Mother's Day is just around the corner so this year why not make mum some special treats for a different Mother's Day gift, or cook her a special meal to let her know just how amazing you think she is. Here are our top treats and meals that will really show mum how much you care.
Mother's Day food gifts
There is a virtually endless list of delicious food gifts you can make for mum and package up in a stylish jar, an elegant box or a trendy bowl that can be reused.
Mother's Day food gifts don’t have to be difficult or expensive and since just about everything tastes good when it’s dipped in chocolate, why not grab some nuts, pretzels and breakfast clusters or muesli bar bites and dip them in melted white or dark chocolate. Chill them in the fridge, throw in a handful of M&Ms and then mix together and place in your container.
Another great idea for the mum who likes a little tipple is to make some zesty limoncello. Simply take the zest from around 1kg of fresh lemons, place into a large jar (one that has a lid) and pour over a 750ml bottle of vodka. Let it sit for around 4 days, shaking every so often, then strain into a large jug and discard the lemon zest. Add to this a cooled sugar syrup made from 6 cups of water and 2.5 cups of sugar (making sure the sugar has dissolved completely first) then pour into bottles and store in the freezer. Yum!
And how good does caramel and whiskey sauce sound! Just place 200g of butter, 140g of soft brown sugar, one can each of condensed milk and caramel and one teaspoon of ground ginger in a pan and heat gently until the butter melts, making sure the sauce doesn’t boil. Remove from the heat then stir in 150 ml of good whisky, pour into jars and allow to cool before sealing. Don’t think about the calories!
There are plenty of recipes online for tanatlising treats so if you’re stuck for inspiration, take a look at BuzzFeed, Midwest Living, and BBC Good Food.
Mother's Day high tea
There’s nothing quite as special as a sumptuous high tea any day of the year, and on Mother's Day it’s bound to be a winner. Here’s a list of our favourite finger food with flair – use whatever takes your fancy but make sure you include plenty of variety and serve it on a tiered cake stand!

Mothers Day lunch or dinner
If you want to treat mum to a gourmet meal at home, we’ve scoured the Internet for some great options!
We love the sound of these spiced beetroot and feta tarts with tahini-dressed leaves for entrée. It’s a delicious way to turn root vegetables into a stunning starter with coriander, cumin and harissa.
For the main course, why not treat mum to pomegranate glazed lamb. The secret to the moist, fall-off-the-bone meat is cooking it very slowly in the fruit juice marinade - a mixture of garlic, cinnamon, cumin, oregano, pomegranate, and lemon - which makes it literally melt in your mouth.
To round off that special meal, give Jamie Oliver’s super indulgent mixed berry filo millefeuille a whirl – what a way for mum to feel the love!
