Eight great photo apps to check out today
Smartphone cameras just keep getting better and better but if you want to take things up a notch, we’ve found some great photo apps that will have you shooting like a pro.
Adobe Photoshop Express
Adobe are the undisputed masters when it comes to photo editing and the mobile version of their widely used desktop software offers a range of features such as layers, selection tools, blending images and applying effects or text.
A nifty collage feature lets you create studio-calibre collages in less than 7 taps, and once you’ve chosen your photos the app suggests collage outputs to save you time and effort. This is an excellent photo editor app for just about anyone.
Pixlr
Pixlr helps you capture any moment and make it beautiful with over 2 million combinations of free effects, overlays and filters. Top features include photo collages with a variety of choices for layout, background and spacing; colour balancing; double exposure to layer multiple photos and blend them together to create a unique look; and stylising of an image to make it look like a pencil drawing, ink sketch or poster.
Facetune 2
If you’re not the most photogenic person in the world and you’re a bit sick of seeing unflattering selfies of yourself then Facetune 2 is the app for you! It lets you add some nice touch ups to your shot such as teeth whitening, blemish or shine removal and colour correction. You can even widen your eyes and smile, slim down your face, change the colour of your eyes or get rid of that grey hair!
Photomyne
If you’ve got a bunch of old photos lying around (the non-digital kind), then the Photomyne photo scanner is the ideal app for preserving them. You can scan an entire photo album in minutes because this awesome little app lets you scan a whole page with multiple photos attached. The cutting edge AI technology auto-detects picture boundaries, auto-rotates any pictures that are positioned sideways and saves them to a digital photo album.
Luminance
Luminance is a handy little app that lets you stack different filters on top of one another to create amazing, personalised photos. A suite of special effects can be applied, you can crop and rotate, and your images can be exported at different resolutions (small, medium, large or original).

PixelWakker
Turn your photos into art with this awesome and creative app that’s inspired by great art from impressionist pointillism to contemporary masters. PixelWakker breaks down your photographs into pixels and then turns those pixels into art. There are just 4 filters to choose from (pixel image, dots, lines and colour rain) but you’ll have a heap of fun with this one!

MomentCam
MomentCam was the Facebook App of the Year winner in 2015 and it lets you create funny cartoons and emoticons from your photos. Just choose between Comics and Emoticons and select a picture from your Albums or Facebook photos. You can then pick a background from thousands available, customise your avatar entirely (hair, glasses, beard and many more) and share it with your friends!

Sketch Me!
Sketch Me! Is a simple, fun app that converts pictures into sketches by applying up to 7 different effects. It features an easy-to-use interface, and you can use your finger to move an image around on the screen to find its best position. You can also zoom in and out through the pinch gesture.
It also features a split screen mode, where only one half of the image is shown in sketch, with the remaining half still showing as a photo. The Sketch Me! effect can be applied to any image. Best results are obtained by using a picture with a bright/white background.
