Money saving tips for women - ditch the pink!

Women constantly feel the pressure to spend due to elaborate marketing techniques by companies. Many advertisements are geared specifically towards women and include promises of stellar results on beauty products, hair products, and other items that companies insist women need to look and feel beautiful.

But are these products really needed, or can they be skipped? We’re going to share a few money saving tips for women when it comes to beauty products and the first tip is to ditch the pink!

Did you know that many products that are in pink packaging or 'feminine' looking packaging contain the same or nearly the same ingredients as the products sold on the shelf for men? Next time you’re buying shampoo for example, look at the ingredients between the two - they will both do the job, but the one in pink or more feminine packaging always tends to be priced more.

So in order to save money, don’t focus on the products marketed towards women; focus on the ones that have the ingredients you want or that work best for you. By not getting caught up on the packaging, you’ll tend to save money.

Here are a few more tips to save on health and beauty products:

  1. There are so many products for women that it’s normal to try something new. However, if you tend not to like it, you might go buy something else. The key to saving money is using what you already have even if it’s not your favourite.
  1. In relation to the tip above, if you’re not sure you’ll like something, see if there’s a sample or trial size you can buy. Since the products are smaller, they tend to be cheaper and you’re not wasting as much money if you find out you don’t like it.
  1. Add a little water to products such as shampoo or conditioner to make them last a little longer. Chances are, your hair will barely notice the difference and you’ll get an extra few uses out of your products.
  1. Wash and condition your hair based on your hair type. Those with thin and dry hair don’t have to shampoo as often as someone with thick hair that tends to turn oily more quickly. See if you can find a stylist that will give you tips for your hair type for free.

There are always plenty of ways that women can save money on beauty products - the above are just a few!

And if you do feel your body is in need of a serious boost, why not take it on a mini vacation to a day spa or overnight retreat so you can replenish your body and your mind!
