Repurpose household items

Repurpose household items to earn extra cash

Have you heard the saying “It takes money to make money”? If so, you’ve probably been a little hesitant when it comes to trying to earn extra income on the side. After all, if you’re struggling to find money just to get by on, it would be difficult to go out and buy a ton of supplies so you can start selling crafts or other items to sell.

But did you know that you can be a “DIY earner” and repurpose household items to make extra money?

Today we’re going to show you how to make distressed picture frames. If you love to work with your hands but don’t have a lot of time or money to invest, this project is for you! Just follow these easy steps:

  1. Find old wooden picture frames that you’re not using anymore. If you don’t have any, you can usually buy them at discount stores.
  2. Clean the picture frames off so there’s no dust or dirt on them and make sure they are dry.
  3. Grab a can of paint - household paint or standard craft paint will do. You may have paint left over from previous household projects, or if not, pick up a cheap sample size can of paint.
  4. Using a paintbrush (or an old t-shirt or towel), paint a layer on the picture frames and let them air dry for a few hours. Repeat this process again.
  5. Take a piece of sandpaper and lightly start rubbing it in areas on the frames that you want to look “distressed”. Be sure to go slow so you don’t scratch too much paint off.

Even if you don’t have a lot of money to spend, most of the items needed to make and sell distressed picture frames are already laying around the house. Happy selling!
