car repairs

Three car maintenance tips to prevent costly repairs later on

Whether you’re driving around in a brand new car, or your current motor vehicle has seen better days, taking care of it properly can be the difference between a dependable car that you can trust, or a car that’s always in need of repair. To help you save, we’ve created 3 car maintenance tips that may prevent costly repairs later on.

  1. Remember to get your car’s oil changed based on the car manufacturer’s recommended timeframe. If your car runs out of oil, you risk engine failure and many other expensive repairs; and even if your car’s oil is just old, it can still cost you money by not making your car run as efficiently as it should be. If you’re not sure how often you should have the oil changed in your car, check with the manufacturer or a trusted local mechanic.
  1. Make sure to monitor your tyre pressure. Many new cars will tell you when one or more of your tyres are running low on air, but older cars don’t have this technology, making it extra important that you manually check the pressure. Tyres that are under or over inflated can cause damage and uneven wear to all of your tyres, which are costly to replace.
  1. Also make sure to have the other fluids in your car checked as well, such as brake fluid and coolant to name a few. Running out or running low can cause expensive damage to your vehicle.

By spending a little bit of money upfront on preventative care, you may be able to avoid costly repairs later. The better you take care of your car, the better it will take care of you!

But if you’ve realised that it’s time to trade in your car, or it’s broken beyond repair, you can always check a mini-loan or a motor vehicle loan to help get you back on the road again!
